Introduced by Hasbro subsidiary Wizards of the Coast on its website in 2007 and shipping the new edition in 2008, Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition is a controversial release as regards to players of previous editions of the game.


4th edition core rules includes multiple volumes of the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual. They included new core classes, races, monsters, powers, feats, paragon paths and epic destinies.


In 2010, the Essentials series was released as a revised, modified and in some ways simplified version of the 4th edition rules set.
